A More ‘Arty’ Style of Pet Photography

Up until now my photographic style for pet photos has been very ‘real’ – I’ve aimed to capture dogs and cats in ‘slice of life’ type shots – photos of them digging, running, jumping, and  traditionally I’ve spent a lot of time lying on my belly on the gravel, crawling around in the undergrowth and trying not to fall in swamps.

Now don’t get me wrong I’ve loved every minute, and I’ll continue to shoot like that, but recently I discovered a really cool tunnel with beautiful natural light coming in from above, and these are the results. I’m liking it. I’m enjoying the absence of greens and blues – the usual ‘outdoorsy’ colours. What do you think? Leave a comment below…

  1. Love Love Love your work Trilby Rising! Great to read about your journey as well as view the results – stunning photography that feeds my soul 🙂

  2. Wicked. Nice to see pet portraits not in a studio. Now just get a cat in that tunnel!

  3. Looks like you have found great lighting and interesting backgrounds. A tunnel sounds like you might have some natural boundaries to help keep the dogs nearby. Cool find! Some excellent images!

  4. I love these of the chocolate lab! Great lighting!
